Violent Party in Philadelphia

From Diary of the American Revolution, Vol I. Compiled by Frank Moore and published in 1859.

A correspondent says: –“The violent party in Philadelphia are greatly crest-fallen; they see with inexpressible chagrin the numbers of their former adherents which they lose every day. The Pennsylvania Farmer,1 a gentleman of great discernment, and possessed of a very large estate, has deserted them, greatly alarmed at the length our committee are carrying matters; he has declared he will not meet them any more, and he does not declare alone.”2
